Join us as we officially kick off our Casa Italia Genealogy Group! Stop by to tour the library and our Italians in Chicago exhibit to learn more about the items that can help you’re your ancestor’s story. We’ll share information about our new genealogy group and programming, volunteer opportunities, and help you work on your research. Stay for espresso and cookies at 2:45 with Casa Italia library staff and volunteers. Our library is open until 4:00 p.m. so feel free to stay and work on your research.

Happy Family History Month! Join us for a beginning genealogy workshop! We will cover the basic charts and records needed to begin, talk about possible projects you can do at home, and tell lots of stories. We will also take a short tour of the Italians in Chicago Exhibit on the 2nd floor.

Please bring as much information as you have on your parents, grandparents, and if possible, great grandparents that includes: full name, birthdate and place, marriage date and place, and death date and place.

Today we are celebrating Veterans’ and their service to our country. Today we will discuss military records and where to find them. Handouts will be provided to explain the Library of Congress Veteran’s History Program.

This program will be held in our Veterans Museum.

Happy Holidays from the Casa Italia Library Genealogy Staff and Volunteers! Join us today for the opportunity to mix and mingle with others sharing similar interests and issues. We will have tables set up to tackle: Beginning genealogy questions; Italian genealogy research; other ethnic research; and computer questions (using online databases and websites, genealogy software, and other questions.)
