Antonio Cassano military papers

A military award for soldier Antonio Cassano.

Casa Italia’s library and genealogy department has a lot of treasures. Here is one that was discovered this week! It is a military award for Antonio Cassano for his service in the Africa Orientale Campaign in 1936.

Who is Antonio Cassano? Right now I’m not sure but I plan to do a little digging to find out. There are two other certificates here without medals attached but none of these provide any genealogical information beyond his father’s name which was Frederico.

Do you have any military paperwork for your Italian ancestor? We’d love to hear about it and your ancestor’s story! Please share in the comment section.
